The Chardonnay is a green-skinned grape variety. It is originated from the Burgundy wine region of eastern France but is now grown wherever wine is produced.

The Chardonnay grape itself is very neutral, with many of the flavors commonly associated with the grape being derived from such influences as terroir  and oak.

The origins of Chardonnay are not sure.  According to some experts, it has Middle Eastern origins, other scientists his birth is due to a hybrid between grapes coming from Illiria (that corrispond to the area of actual Croatia).  Of course the modern history of Chardonnay, start in Borgogna (France), where the genetical analysis has demonstrated that it’s an hybrid (created in the X century) between Pinot Nero and Gouais blanc. From there it has been planted all over the world since the half of the past century.
